Witness Stones commemorate the lives of Chloe and Timothy Anthony
On Saturday, June 13, community members gathered at the Darling Farmstead and History Museum for the dedication of two Witness Stones honoring Chloe and Timothy Anthony, enslaved individuals who once lived in Woodbridge. The ceremony, organized by the Amity & Woodbridge Historical Society, featured remarks from officials, participation by Beecher Road School sixth-grade students who researched the Anthonys' lives, and the formal laying of the commemorative stones. At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees were invited to participate in a symbolic act of remembrance by placing small polished stones around the newly installed Witness Stones, creating a collective tribute to Chloe and Timothy Anthony. The following photo essay captures moments from the afternoon's remembrance and reflection.
